Gareth Tucker

Gareth is the Associate Director of Data Science and Automation and the Institute of Railway Research (IRR) in the University of Huddersfield and is a Professor of Railway Systems Engineering. Gareth has over 20 years of experience in rail, having previously worked in London Underground, Interfleet Technology, Network Rail and RSSB. He leads the IRR’s Smart Rolling Stock Maintenance Team, which carries out research and consultancy work with the aim of improving rolling stock reliability and maintenance efficiency through the use of robotic maintenance, advance condition monitoring and optimised depot workflow planning.
